Year 1 Homeroom Teacher is an associate role in Arus. An associate at Arus is a growth-driven professional who excels as an effective educator and a resourceful project and outreach coordinator. They effectively coordinate projects with an educator's insight, ensuring the program's content and delivery are thoughtfully executed. They also proactively identify opportunities to seamlessly integrate their passion into existing and new programs in Arus. Their adaptability is evident in how they embrace innovative ways of content creation and delivery through exploring technology, experimenting with pedagogy and andragogy and continuous peer learning support.
A Year 1 Homeroom Teacher is expected to support in, and not limited to the following tasks:
Effective educator
At Arus, we believe that every member, regardless of role, should embody the spirit of an educator. This entails a commitment to ongoing learning and effective teaching of knowledge to others.
Design and develop interactive and engaging learning experience and activities for both in-person and online delivery. This task may involve writing creative content such as learning modules, newsletters, articles, websites including effective use of images, videos and graphics as well as presenting on social media. The delivery of this task requires organising the materials in a logical and effective manner.
Deliver and facilitate impactful student and teachers programmes through purposeful activity design, thoughtful and clear instructions and meaningful assessments.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and relevance of content.
Model REACH (Respect, Efficient, Adventurous, Collaboration, Honest) values towards others through personal leadership.
Research and study content relevant or integrable to your project and develop a specific area of knowledge or skill in which you excel.
Engage with teachers or subject matter communities to keep yourself abreast of the latest trends and topics.
Resourceful project and outreach coordinator
A resourceful coordinator is someone who adds value to the team by skillfully coordinating internal and external resources to achieve project goals and make sure their work is dynamic, relevant, and impactful.
Support and organise yearly and semester curriculum planning for Year 1 students.
Collaborate with teachers to ensure optimised planning and coordination.
Conduct regular check-ins and class observations with other teachers to continuously improve teaching and learning experiences.
Monitor and evaluate students' progress by tracking the progress of students meaningfully and timely throughout each semester
Conduct analysis and action plans with relevant teachers based on progress reports of students.
Key Measures of Success:
Students’ academic and behaviour mastery.
Student progress and outcome.
Teacher’s professional development.
Requirements
Requirements:
Have experience of full-time teaching or related experience for at least 1 year.
Proficient/willing to be proficient in Google products such as Google Slides, Google Sheets, Google Classroom, Google Sites, Google Docs. Plus points for Canva skills.
Able to commit to a full-time teaching role in Chow Kit, KL and able to travel independently to work.
Proficient in verbal and written English & Bahasa Melayu.
Must be keen to explore new pedagogical approaches to improve teaching practices.
