I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to volunteer with Wiki Impact. As a volunteer, I learned so much about how the amazing team in Wiki Impact worked diligently to connect the changemakers in the impact industry with the public through stories and opportunities. I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to Sabrina and Terence for guiding me through this 8-month volunteering journey. It was truly an eye-opening and invaluable experience for me.

My experience working with Wiki Impact has been nothing but fruitful and engaging as I was given the opportunity to emerge myself with variant research materials that touches upon poverty and its intersections with healthcare. Research writing is tough—but with the right guidance and direction from the team, I’m able to produce a thorough write-up alongside values and action plans that are in alignment with Wiki Impact’s objective: making data on poverty accessible to all.

Interning with Wiki Impact has given me the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of social issues facing marginalised and disadvantaged communities in Malaysia. It has sharpened and developed my writing skills and I realised that data and evidence-based facts are necessary to tell impactful stories. The check-ins and coaching provided by Deborah have been very helpful in growing my skills. I can't wait to apply the valuable lessons I have learned here in my future endeavours!

My volunteer experience with Wiki Impact has been an eye-opener. It educated and informed me about poverty-related issues in Malaysia. I was involved in research and writing, conducting interviews with changemakers and translating articles for Malay readers. I enjoyed the process of tabulating data and information and forming it into a story. As it did for me, I believe Wiki Impact will play a significant role in making Malaysia a better place.
