MareCet is looking for a Research Assistant to support marine mammal research and conservation efforts across Malaysia. This is a full-time contract position involving both fieldwork and desk-based research, outreach activities, educational programmes, and communication support.
Responsibilities
- Assist in MareCet’s field activities, including boat-based surveys and fisher interviews
- Support the recording, management and processing of field data
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of outreach events and educational programmes
- Support content creation for MareCet’s outreach and communication efforts
Requirements
- Malaysian citizen with a valid driver’s license
- Preferably holds a degree in Marine Science, or other environment-related fields
- Physically fit and comfortable working in marine and outdoor environments
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and writing skills in both English and Bahasa Melayu
- Mandarin proficiency is valued, but not compulsory
- Willing to travel outstation and work on weekends/public holidays when required (replacement leave is given)
