Tressie Yap Chui Kie

Sprouting out of her love for architecture and nature, Upcycled Shack was born from Tressie Yap’s gift of seeing beautiful things before they become beautiful. Her artistry for transforming waste resources into treasured crafts has been honoured by many other changemaker-partners and awarded by Sabah Creative Economy and Innovation Centre (SCENIC), but her advocacy doesn’t stop there. Yap also leads a minimal waste lifestyle and, through Upcycled Shack, has empowered numerous underprivileged communities to recognise their artistic and changemaking potential.

To me, making an impact means empowering creative minds while uplifting sustainable livelihoods among underprivileged communities in Sabah.
