The Malaysia-UN SDG Trust Fund has officially launched its Call for Proposals (CFP) 2026/2027, inviting Malaysia-based civil society organizations (CSOs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), non-profit organizations, academic institutions, think tanks, and participating United Nations (UN) organizations to submit innovative, people-centred and scalable initiatives that contribute to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Malaysia. The Fund is a partnership between the United Nations in Malaysia and Yayasan Matlamat Pembangunan Mampan Malaysia (Yayasan MySDG), supported by the Ministry of Finance.
Guided by the principle of "Leave No One Behind", the Fund supports catalytic, partnership-driven projects that improve the lives of underserved and vulnerable communities while strengthening local capacity and promoting sustainable, inclusive development. Building on the success of the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 funding cycles, the 2026/2027 Call for Proposals places greater emphasis on measurable impact, proposal quality, governance, and compliance readiness.
Priority will be given to interventions benefiting asylum seekers, refugees, stateless and undocumented persons, indigenous peoples, migrants, persons with disabilities, and other underserved groups, particularly those in Sabah, Sarawak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, and Perlis. The Fund also encourages strong collaboration among stakeholders to ensure communities most at risk of being left behind receive meaningful and sustainable support.
Eligible applicants include Malaysia-based CSOs, NGOs, other non-profit organizations such as academic institutions and think tanks, as well as participating UN organizations. Each legal entity may submit a maximum of three proposals using the Fund's prescribed Project Document (ProDoc) template. Applications, together with all required supporting documents, must be submitted electronically to the Fund Secretariat no later than 6 August 2026, 11:59 PM (Malaysia Time).
To help prospective applicants better understand the funding opportunity, the Malaysia-UN SDG Trust Fund Secretariat will also conduct two orientation sessions in July 2026. Interested organizations are encouraged to review the full application guidelines, eligibility criteria, and thematic priorities before preparing their proposals.
