Support in co-developing and refining UNICEF’s climate change advocacy strategy. This includes analysing and identifying gaps in the current climate change policy/programme/strategy and mapping out key stakeholders via the Regional Climate Change Advocacy Strategy framework.
Support in developing an advocacy plan consisting of activities to raise societal awareness of the climate agenda, implement youth-led solutions, influence decision makers and highlight policy and governance recommendations.
Support in identifying active youth organisations and individuals and present UNICEF’s work for advocacy on climate change, and as relevant, explore areas of collaboration.
Participate in Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions on climate change advocacy organised by UNICEF HQ.
Provide capacity building to youth to strengthen their advocacy capacities in support of climate action. This includes translating training modules in the local language and training other young leaders on climate advocacy.
Strengthen climate and environmental public policy awareness among youth, including producing communications and advocacy pieces that are publishable on media and social media.
Provide support to ensure that youth voices are well reflected in policies/ strategies and programmes related to climate change.
Provide support to design and co-organize meaningful youth engagement in UNICEF’s events, stakeholder discussions, and engagements. This includes support in facilitating youth-led or youth-centred consultations on climate change policies, youth engagement and empowerment.
Produce youth and child-friendly content, material, and evidence to raise awareness on climate change impacts and solutions. This includes producing blog posts, written articles, reflection pieces, and stories; and/or developing visuals, infographics, and short videos, which will be vetted by UNICEF Malaysia.
Support evidence generation activities conducted by UNICEF Malaysia on youth and climate change, including but not limited to surveys among Malaysian youth.
