Fugee is looking for a committed and empathetic Social Worker to support the emotional and psychosocial well-being of refugee students and community members. Working closely with the school counsellor and well-being team, this role focuses on early intervention, family engagement, and community-based support. Responsibilities
Case Management & Support Planning
Manage incident reports
Assess student and family needs (social, emotional, environmental)
Develop and monitor individualized support plans
Direct Intervention & Counseling
Collaborate on sessions and group interventions
Support short-term counseling and psychoeducation
Outreach & Advocacy
Conduct home visits to assess family environments
Accompany families to external agencies (e.g., legal aid, health services)
Refer individuals to specialized external providers
School & Community Development
Guide staff in student behaviour management
Participate in crisis response and safeguarding
Co-lead workshops for students, parents, and the broader community
Documentation & Culture Promotion
Maintain accurate and confidential records
Champion a safe, trauma-informed, inclusive school culture
Requirements
Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication
Strong commitment to professional ethics and confidentiality
Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia
Knowledge of Arabic, Somali, or other refugee languages is a plus
Self-motivated, resourceful, and adaptable to dynamic settings
