MareCet is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support marine mammal research and conservation projects in Malaysia. The role involves fieldwork assistance, data management, and outreach support. The position is based in Selangor with some travel required.
Responsibilities
• Assist in MareCet’s field activities, including boat-based surveys and fisher interviews
• Support the recording, management and processing of field data
• Assist in coordinating and implementing outreach events and educational programmes
• Support content creation for MareCet’s outreach and communication efforts
Requirements
• Malaysian citizen with a valid driver’s license
• Preferably holds a degree in Marine Science or other environment-related fields
• Physically fit and comfortable working in marine and outdoor environments
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Good communication and writing skills in English and Bahasa Melayu (Mandarin proficiency valued but not compulsory)
• Willing to travel outstation and work on weekends/public holidays when required
