Project Associate
UNDP multi-country office in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam provides technical assistance, policy and technical advisory services to the Governments of Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam in their efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG); in partnership with development partners, financial institutions, private sector and civil society. In Malaysia, UNDP’s programme priorities and partnerships are defined and operationalized through the Country Programme between Government of Malaysia and UNDP to support and contribute to the development priorities and results envisioned in the 5-year Malaysia Plan. Malaysia is currently implementing the Twelfth Malaysia Plan 2021-2025 (12MP), which is anchored around three key themes namely resetting economy, strengthening security, wellbeng and inclusivity; and advancing sustainability to achieve economic growth and transform Malaysia into a prosperous, inclusive and sustainable country.
The position is under the direct supervision of the Programme Analyst of Inclusive and Development Growth in UNDP Multi-Country Office (CO) in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam, and in close-communication with the National Project Director at ICU-JPM where the incumbent will be primarily responsible for project coordination and management including logistic arrangement, development and execution of projects related to social protection and provision support of technical services.
He/She will be based in ICU, JPM Office in Putrajaya and expected to work in close collaboration with the Project Management Unit lead by the ICU’s National Project Director as well as the Country Office’s Programme teams and Operations Unit to deliver on country programme results and successful Country Office’s performance with accountability and compliance with UNDP Programme and Operations Policies and Procedures.
Required Skills and Experience
Education:
Secondary education or Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following: Social Policy, Social Sciences, Sustainable Development, International Relations, Public Policy, Sustainable Studies or other closely related field
Experience:
6 years with Secondary education or 3 years with Bachelor’s degree of relevant experience at the national or international level in providing administrative and management support services, and managing and implementing initiatives/projects in the area of social policy
Experience with the government and/or international organizations and/or research institution/think tank
Experience in research activities such as literature reviews, drafting research report and compiling best practices and key narratives
Experience in supporting documenting lessons learned and best practices in project development, management, implementation and/or oversight
Ability to coordinate and manage outputs and activities in all phases of project management involving multiple partners and stakeholders, and in conflict settings
Excellent skills in problem-solving, adaptative management, conflict resolution, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement and coordination
Demonstrated ability in writing good quality project progress reports
Experience in project management and coordination
Experience in collaborating and partnering with government agencies, private sector, communities and/or international organizations
Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Language requirement:
English and Malay – fluent in written and oral form
