Local NGO, Dignity for Children Foundation (Dignity), has launched a shopfront cum venue for hosting workshops - shop X dignity - to showcase the complete range of products made by its transformative enterprises.
Located at Sentul Boulevard, shop X dignity will feature handmade products by the NGO’s key transformational enterprises namely sew X, bake X and make X.
Said Natalie Tan, Dignity’s Head of Enterprise: “The opening of shop X dignity is a pivotal milestone for Dignity. By establishing a physical store, Dignity aims to create a direct and tangible platform to display the remarkable skills and abilities of our trainees, students, and staff, many of whom are members of the refugee and B40 community.
“Additionally, shop X dignity is more than a retail space. It is a stepping stone for the alumni of Dignity's transformative enterprises. The shop offers them a unique opportunity to gain invaluable firsthand exposure to the retail industry, allowing them to understand the dynamics of customer interactions, inventory management, and overall store operations. This exposure equips them with practical experience, enhancing their confidence and capabilities as they embark on their career journey.”
She revealed that the setting up of the store is made possible by Shopper360 who underwrote the cost of renovations and refurbishment.
Lee Jun Ling, General Manager of Shopperplus Malaysia revealed that Shopperplus as part of Shopper 360 Malaysia, has been supporting Dignity in more ways than one - beginning with their first collaboration back in 2019.
“When we were looking for a social enterprise to partner, we wanted to focus on improving access to quality education and helping the underserved community. We were very much enthralled with how Dignity was not just advocating for both, but also empowering their beneficiaries in the process.
“Aside from channeling funds from our own platform to equip them to go further, we have also gladly invested in our time and effort to support them over the years - and cannot be happier to see all of this come to life at this new store today. We hope to contribute as much as we can, for as long as we can in this partnership with Dignity,” shared Lee.
shop X dignity was officially opened by Dignity’s co-founders, Pastor Elisha Satvinder and Petrina Satvinder, and General Manager of Shopperplus Malaysia, Lee Jun Ling. Also present were key sponsors and the NGO’s board of trustees.
