Maxis celebrates Menuju Gemilang graduates

Maxis celebrated the graduation of the inaugural Menuju Gemilang programme cohort who sat for SPM 2025, recognising 40 students from schools across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Sarawak. Developed in partnership with the Ministry of Education (MoE), the programme empowers underprivileged students to excel in SPM while preparing them for higher education.

Despite completing a three-month fast-track programme, the inaugural cohort delivered encouraging results. Compared to their trial examinations, the number of students achieving 7As and above doubled to 33%, including four students who attained 9As or more. To recognise their achievements, Maxis is awarding a total of RM50,000 in education grants to the top performers to support them in continuing their studies.

Officiated by Tuan Zainal Abas, Deputy Director-General of Education Malaysia (School Operations Sector), MoE, the graduation ceremony also welcomed 200 new students into the programme, bringing the total 2026 cohort to 400. Datuk Johan Idris, Chairman of Maxis, attended the event to congratulate the graduates and encourage the new intake.

Beyond academic tutoring, Menuju Gemilang prepares students for higher education through STEM camps and leadership bootcamps. The programme has also been extended from 18 to 24 months to provide post-SPM guidance on education pathways and scholarship opportunities. Every participant receives a laptop for use throughout the programme and beyond to support their continued learning.

Menuju Gemilang is an expansion of Maxis eKelas, the company's flagship digital learning initiative for B40 communities. Launched in 2025, the programme began with 240 students from 20 Ministry of Education-selected schools across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Sarawak. Participants are selected based on academic performance, extracurricular involvement and leadership potential.
