Implement and manage existing Peatland Programme projects at site level, including studies, awareness programmes, stakeholder engagement and reporting. The role involves working closely with government agencies, private sector partners, civil society organisations and indigenous communities, while contributing to the development of new projects and supporting broader programme initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Implement and manage a range of existing projects at site level
- Undertake project activities such as studies, awareness programmes, networking and information exchange
- Prepare technical and management reports
- Communicate and work with partner agencies at local level (local government, private sector, CSOs, indigenous and local community groups)
- Plan and execute community development and empowerment events/programmes
- Work with partner agencies in Malaysia and overseas
- Contribute to development of new projects and activities
- Support other elements of the Peatland Programme as appropriate
Requirements
- Degree in Environmental or Natural Resource Management
- Fluent in English and Malay with good writing skills
- Proficient in computer and basic software skills (e.g. Microsoft Office)
- Experience in forest, natural resources, peatland, biodiversity, climate change and/or plantation issues
- Minimum 10 years relevant working experience
- Experience engaging multi-stakeholders including government agencies and indigenous communities
- Experience in awareness event organisation and information exchange
- Experience in multidisciplinary teams (advantage)
- Willingness to work with indigenous communities
- Willingness to station at Pekan, Pahang
