Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, PPB Group Berhad (“PPB”) is an investment holding and property investment company with operations in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore. PPB’s principal businesses are divided into 6 segments; Grains and Agribusiness, Consumer Products, Film Exhibition and Distribution, Environmental Engineering and Utilities, Properties, Investments and Other Operations. The Group takes a holistic sustainability approach to harmonise economic performance with their impact on the environment and on society following four sustainability pillars which are Environmental Impact, Working Environment, Marketplace Engagement, and Community Investment.

The year on year net profit growth at PPB Group decreased by 13%

The Group’s dividend payout for the FY2024 is RM597 million, consistent with the previous financial year.

The Group did not specify the total amount of contribution made towards Zakat during FY2023.

Total community investment made by PPB during FY2024, was RM3.59 million based on their Performance data table from Bursa ESG Reporting Platform.

Overall, RM98,664 was invested in seven upskilling projects.

To date, 13 wells and 33 sanitation facilities have been built, 729 individuals have benefitted from medical screenings, and four Orang Asli community members have been upskilled. Since 2023, PPB has also partnered with medical practitioners and NGOs to expand access to healthcare services, providing medical screenings to 652 adults and 300 children, along with dental services and nutrition awareness.

A total of 22,196 beneficiaries were reached, with 2,000 hot meals delivered and RM797,328 invested.

PPB sponsored five satellite farms developed by PWD Smart FarmAbility Enterprise to grow organic vegetables and raise tilapia fish. The initiative helps students learn about food security and the importance of a healthy, nutritious diet, while also providing differently-abled students with hands-on farming experience. Located in schools with integrated special education programmes, these farms offer an alternative learning environment for children with special needs.

The event featured photography and videography workshops for participants of all ages, providing an opportunity to develop their skills while exploring Penang’s unique cultural heritage.
5Environmental initiativesRM0.37MN/AN/AEnvironmentPPB expanded its partnership with the Global Environment Centre to strengthen the Peatland Fire Prevention Project. The initiative protects the Southeast Pahang Peatland Landscape by preventing fires during the drought season through community-based patrolling, while also creating job opportunities for the Orang Asli. To encourage recycling within the community, The REplace Project was expanded with new recycling stations at Megah Rise Mall and Cheras LeisureMall. PPB Properties also organised the Stop Food Waste Campaign at Megah Rise Mall and Cheras Plaza, raising awareness on food loss and food waste through various activities, workshops, and talks. Across these efforts; 11 projects implemented, 29,487 kg of materials collected, 25 Orang Asli engaged and 150 kg of cultivated vegetables donated

Beneficiaries of PPB Group Berhad

PPB Group Berhad reported community investments of RM3.59 million in FY2024, with 55.6% allocated to educational initiatives, followed by environmental initiatives (22.2%) and community development and welfare, which accounted for 11.1% respectively. This contribution represented 0.29% of the Group’s cash-to-profit giving ratio, marking an increase from 0.17% in the previous financial year.

As part of its educational efforts, PPB implemented notable initiatives such as Baking for a Better Future and the PPB Welfare Fund. These ongoing initiatives benefited a total of 31,221 individuals.The majority of PPB’s contributions were directed towards community beneficiaries (44.4%), followed by youth (33.3%), and environmental as well as Orang Asli/Asal beneficiaries, each accounting for 11.1%. Additionally, PPB Group Berhad reported a total of 926 employee volunteer hours in its annual or sustainability report.
