The Group declared a higher dividend payout ratio for FY2024 at 73.0% which amounts to RM7.36 billion.

 

Malayan Banking Berhad contributed a total of RM51.2 million in Zakat during FY2024.

Total cash contributions made by Maybank during FY2024, was RM48.74 million. This contribution was made through community investment.

Through partnerships with Color Silk (Cambodia), Mulberries (Laos), Sekar Kawung (Indonesia), and Tanoti (Malaysia), MWEW advances gender equality, promotes environmentally responsible weaving techniques, and safeguards traditional practices for future generations. In 2024, the programme trained 316 weavers and supported 459 new farmers, with more than 616,600 mulberry trees and over 19,900 cotton bushes cultivated to date.

In 2024, the initiative reached 28,939 beneficiaries and engaged 99 youth leaders working with 10 CSOs/SEs to implement 10 projects across six ASEAN countries.

20Disaster ReliefRM5kN/AN/A70 residentsMaybank Foundation extended emergency assistance to weavers under the Women Eco-Weavers programme following a devastating fire on 6 March 2024 that left 70 residents homeless in a 17-door longhouse in Long Kerangan, Sarawak. A total of RM5,000 was contributed to support affected families as they began rebuilding their lives.

Women diagnosed with cancer are referred promptly to hospitals or the National Cancer Institute for treatment. In 2024, cervical cancer screenings benefited 5,337 B40 women, while breast cancer initiatives screened 27,792 women across Peninsular Malaysia, including 5,532 mammograms and screenings for 22,260 women via mobile trucks.

27Strengthening Tiger Conservation in the Belum-Temengor Forest ComplexRM1.55MN/AN/A240 animals savedMaybank remains deeply committed to protecting the critically endangered Malayan tiger through its long-standing partnership with WWF-Malaysia and government agencies under the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010. Efforts within the Belum-Temengor Forest Complex contributed to Malaysia becoming the first country in Asia to earn the Conservation Assured | Tiger Standards (CA|TS) accreditation. In 2024, RM1.55 million was invested in tiger conservation, bringing cumulative investments to RM12.11 million. Patrol teams deactivated 240 snares—potentially saving as many large animals—and covered over 16,000 km to protect tiger habitats.
28Etiqa Marine Conservation ProgrammeRM98.7kN/AN/AEtiqa spearheaded the Marine Conservation 2.0 project at Kampung Salang, Pulau Tioman, in collaboration with Leges Divers and UKM’s Marine Research Centre (EKOMAR). The initiative focuses on coral restoration, marine biodiversity protection, and community development. In 2024, RM98,744 was invested in marine conservation activities, supported by coral propagation expeditions involving 40 volunteers, including 20 professional divers. An additional RM20,000 was contributed to upgrade community facilities, including the Kampung Salang surau.
29Mangrove Cleanup and ReplantingN/AN/A300Maybank’s Mangrove Restoration Initiative strengthens coastal resilience across Malaysia, including in Kuala Selangor, Klang, and Terengganu. Delivered in collaboration with SME Banking, Maybank Foundation, Etiqa, and Women of Will (WoW), the programme strengthens financial literacy, business resilience, and long-term growth. Participants also benefit from tailored support through initiatives such as R.I.S.E., Women Eco-Weavers, and Balai Seni’s art programmes.
40Megapreneurship 3.0N/ABusiness educationN/A200 participantsIn collaboration with Treebrothers, this initiative empowers asnaf entrepreneurs and informal business owners by offering education in business legality, governance, startup fundamentals, and leadership. The programme aims to enable at least 40% of participants to run their own businesses—either full-time or part-time—and ensure at least 40% gain a stable source of income. By equipping participants with essential facilities, skills, and knowledge, the initiative strengthens economic participation and purchasing power. In total, more than 200 low-income participants took part in the programme.

In FY2024, Malayan Banking Berhad invested RM48.74 million in community initiatives, up from RM42.40 million the previous year, reflecting growth both in monetary contribution and in its cash-to-profit giving ratio, which rose from 0.45% to 0.48%.

Maybank’s charitable contributions were primarily directed towards Education (37.2%), Environment (18.6%), and Community Development (14%). A substantial 39.5% of total giving was channelled into Education, supporting a range of training and development programmes, including flagship initiatives such as eMpowering Youths Across ASEAN, Maybank Women Eco-Weavers, Cashville Kidz, and the Maybank HERpower Programme.

Most of Maybank’s beneficiaries were communities and youth, driven by the bank’s strong emphasis on financial literacy and upskilling efforts. However, employee volunteerism saw a decline, with 118,818 volunteer hours in FY2024, down from 227,102 hours in the previous financial year.
