Description
Buku Jalanan Chow Kit (BJCK) is looking for passionate education and social impact enthusiasts to work with children and communities. Through our Alternative Learning Centre (ALC) and community programmes, we work alongside children and families in Chow Kit to expand access to education, strengthen communities, and create pathways towards a better future.
Responsibilities
- Drive children, staff and volunteers safely between the Alternative Learning Centre, homes and programme venues around Chow Kit.
- Handle daily pick-ups and drop-offs on schedule, and support transport logistics for community outreach and events.
- Collect and deliver food, books, teaching materials, donations and other supplies as needed.
- Keep the organisation’s vehicles clean, fuelled, serviced and road-legal, and report any issues early.
- Assist with general upkeep of the centre — setting up spaces, light maintenance, moving stock and running errands.
- Support the team with day-to-day tasks around programmes and events, keeping the environment safe and child-friendly at all times.
Requirements
- A valid Malaysian driving licence with a clean driving record and confidence driving in Kuala Lumpur traffic.
- Familiar with Chow Kit and Klang Valley routes.
- Comfortable working around children and community members — patient, dependable and trustworthy.
- Punctual, physically fit, and happy to help with lifting, errands and general centre duties.
- Willing to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends for programmes and events.
- Able to communicate in Bahasa Malaysia; conversational English is an advantage.
- No formal qualification required — reliability and a genuine interest in community work matter most.
