Description
Hara Makers was born from a simple but urgent idea: what if plastic waste could do more than pollute, it could empower people? We started as a small group of friends and neighbors, collecting discarded plastics and turning them into useful, beautiful items. Along the way, we realized the real potential wasn’t just in the products we made—it was in the people we worked with.
Our journey has always been about community. We train lower-income women and urban communities in upcycling skills, giving them tools not just to earn a living, but to reclaim agency and pride in their work. Every bag sewn, every item crafted, carries a story, of resilience, creativity, and the shared effort of communities coming together to solve a problem that affects us all.
Today, Hara Makers is more than a social enterprise. We are a network of changemakers, people who believe that sustainability and social impact go hand in hand. And we’re still learning, still growing, still finding ways to make plastic a symbol of possibility rather than waste.
