Support and implement river basin management, water conservation, environmental stewardship and resource management initiatives through nature-based solutions, pollution control and disaster management, with a focus on flood preparedness and community resilience under the River Care Programme.
Responsibilities
- Support implementation of river basin management and water conservation activities
- Promote stakeholder and community engagement through integrated river basin management
- Establish and engage community groups through workshops, events and initiatives
- Collaborate with government, private sector, universities and community stakeholders
- Contribute to planning materials for sustainable water management and biodiversity action plans
- Support environmental education, ESG and awareness programmes
- Assist in preparation and development of project collaborations and CSR activities
- Support project visibility and communication with local stakeholders
- Deliver tasks independently with minimal supervision
- Contribute actively towards achieving organisational goals
Requirements
- Minimum Degree in Environmental Conservation or related field
- Willing to be stationed at GEC HQ in Petaling Jaya, Selangor
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and in teams
- Experienced in project planning and implementation
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of green and brown environmental issues
- Fluent in English and Bahasa Melayu (minimum 2 languages)
- Willing to travel and work independently at project sites
- Driving license and own transport is an advantage
- IT competent (Microsoft Office and social media content creation)
- Able to work flexibly, including weekends if required
- Environmental Education experience is an added advantage
- Knowledge on water volumetric balance
