They are seeking a compassionate and proactive Social Worker to strengthen the emotional, social, and psychosocial wellbeing of students, families, and the wider refugee community. This role involves case management, parental engagement, community outreach, and collaboration with the school’s well-being team.
Responsibilities
Conduct social and emotional assessments and develop individualised support plans for students and families.
Provide short-term counselling, crisis intervention, and psychoeducation.
Manage case documentation, incident reporting, safeguarding, and referrals.
Coordinate bursary and financial assistance applications.
Lead family-school partnership initiatives and parental involvement.
Conduct home visits and community outreach.
Manage community financial support or welfare schemes with partners.
Build partnerships with NGOs, service providers, and community leaders.
Support teachers and staff with student behaviour and emotional needs.
Promote a safe, trauma-informed, inclusive school environment.
Collaborate on school-wide well-being strategies and programmes.
Participate in crisis response, safeguarding, and emergency support.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counselling, or related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years experience in casework or community management.
• Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia (Arabic/Somali advantage).
• Experience working with marginalised or refugee communities.
• Able to travel within Malaysia, preferably with own vehicle.
