If you are volunteering on ground, here are some things you should consider:
From our Health DG, Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah:
- Avoid playing with flood water especially if you have a wound or skin disease. This would reduce your risk to contract Leptospirosis (kencing tikus) & Melioidosis through the contaminated water.
- Use protective gear such as shoes, rubber gloves during cleaning especially if it involves flood waters.
- Ensure water source is boiled and food is clean to avoid food poisoning, cholera, typhoid, Hepatitis A and diarrhea.
