In celebration of World Environment Day, Yayasan Sime Darby were excited to support the launch of Trunk Tales, a board game developed by the Management & Ecology of Malaysian Elephants (MEME), aimed at spreading the knowledge and promoting the conservation of and coexistence with elephants 🐘
The event featured a half-day awareness programme with an exhibition and an immersive theatre production, attended by Ms Nengaswary Maniam, Head of Research And Development at the University of Nottingham Malaysia; Dr Wong Ee Phin, Principal Investigator at MEME; and our own CEO Dr Yatela Zainal Abidin, alongside representatives from the ACE Coalition, NGOs, and the public.
Trunk Tales invites players to navigate the complexities of elephant conservation, highlighting the need for informed community involvement in effecting positive change. Since 2012, YSD’s support has not only sustained MEME’s initiatives but also bolstered academic research and conservation through postgraduate scholarships. This support boosts the scientific community’s capacity to manage and mitigate human-elephant conflicts effectively, preserving our forest ecosystems and promoting sustainable coexistence.
