We have recently launched the tree planting programme in support of Sentuhan Alam at the campus of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. This comes as another initiative to instill awareness and action-taking behavior among the youth through Communication, Education and Public Awareness (CEPA) and to combat climate change.
The nearby orang asli community from Kampung Sungai Tonggang, Seri Iskandar joined the event which was attended by more than 60 people including UTP staffs and students.
This programme serves as our effort in continuing to engage in nature-based solution to combat climate change through tree planting initiative subsequent to the planting of more than 60,000 native trees with more than 85% survival rate at 14 sites spread across 11 states throughout Malaysia recently.
The tree planting programme which also aligns to PETRONAS Net Zero Carbon Emission (NZCE) and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is also in support of Rancangan Malaysia Ke-12, the greening of Malaysia via 100 million trees campaign by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA).
