The Senior Manager – Legal and Governance will be responsible for the provision of legal assistance and advice within Yayasan Hasanah and also to safeguard the organization’s reputation by guaranteeing that the organization strictly follows law guidelines in its all relevant issues.
The incumbent’s responsibility includes effectively ensuring legal conformity and minimizing the probability of legal exposure in all matters relating to external parties.
The incumbent is also responsible for providing legal counsel across departments, being the point person, managing and collaborating with others to devise and implement creative legal solutions, based on organizational matters of concern.
To advise YH Board of Trustees and Management on compliance of the listing rules and corporate governance matters.
Stay up-to-date with and advise staff on laws applicable to the non-profit organization and other social sector related organizations.
Managing and keeping up-to-date records of variety contracts, agreements and other information pertinent to the role.
Review the organization risk framework and identify risk/compliance issues that require follow-up or investigation and formulate risk responses to address any non-compliance.
Review grant agreements and reports, and facilitate the organization’s giving by advising staff on how to address legal aspects of grantmaking.
To work with YH external Company Secretary on company secretarial matters, statutory filings and constitutional documents of YH entities.
Conduct legal research and analyze legal issues that affect the organization and its activities at the local, state, federal, and international levels, and prepare findings, recommendations, templates, and plans to advise the organization effectively.
Create staff-friendly policies, procedures and systems around a variety of legal compliance issues.
Serve as a broad-based resource for staff legal concerns and collaborate to find practical answers to a diverse range of legal questions associated with YH work and operations.
To keep abreast of changes in the law or relevant regulation/legislation and advise management on the impact of such changes on the company’s operations and recommend strategies for compliance.

Attending to meetings and recording minutes of meetings.
Managing and keeping up-to-date records of contracts and other information pertinent to the role.
Engaging, consulting, and liaising with relevant stakeholders and partnerships of the Yayasan Hasanah (regulators, contract parties, etc.).
Excellent command of verbal and written communication skills in English and Malay, including the ability to explain complicated legal concepts to non-legal colleagues in understandable terms.
Flexibility and adaptability to address legal concerns in a dynamic environment.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently but with the judgment to know when to seek guidance.
Good analytical skills and sound legal judgement to support business needs.
Positive attitude, pleasant personality and possess high degree of professionalism and integrity.
University degree in Law, A common law qualified lawyer, with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience
5-8 years of relevant working experience in a similar function and/or development/non-profit sector.
