Description

MYReaders was founded with the mission to eradicate illiteracy so that one day, every child in Malaysia will be able to read in English.

It was founded by 4 Teach For Malaysia Fellows who were teaching in high-need secondary schools in 2015. During their time in school, they realized that their students could not read basic English sentences and could not follow lessons in class. Together, Alex, Charis, Rachel and Sue Yen decided to create their own literacy toolkit based on Malaysian context and build it into a structured reading programme.

Fast forward to 2021, MYReaders have reached all over Malaysia, impacting more than 31,647 children, 92 parents, 777 teachers and 780 volunteers. With continuous support from communities and multiple organisations, MYReaders hopes to reach out to more people so that illiteracy among children is a thing of the past.
