About PEMIMPIN GSL
- PEMIMPIN GSL is an organisation that provides high quality, evidence-based leadership training for teachers and school leaders in Malaysia. We believe that excellent schools begin with excellent leaders and we strive to provide strong leadership development training to help educators in enhancing their lessons, building their leadership skills and improving educational outcomes for all students.
- PEMIMPIN GSL conducts programmes through our three main pillars, which are specifically designed to meet the needs of school leaders, middle leaders and teacher leaders. Since 2017, we have worked and are working with 5,940 schools from all over Malaysia and 9,652 teachers. PEMIMPIN GSL is a team of 14 individuals from diverse backgrounds and is currently looking for like-minded team members to help us realise our mission of high quality leadership training for schools all over Malaysia. About the Leadership Enrichment and Development (LEAD) Programme
- LEAD is a leadership programme for middle leaders in school (e.g. Ketua Panitia, Guru Kanan Mata Pelajaran, Penyelaras). Middle leaders play a vital role in school, assisting senior leaders in achieving school goals as well as leading a team of teachers to drive positive student outcomes.
- To support middle leaders, LEAD focuses on three key areas of leadership: understanding school contexts, building and growing a team, and managing instructional programmes. Since its inception in 2021, LEAD has impacted 200 middle leaders from 166 schools from all over Malaysia. This year (2024), LEAD aims to provide in-person training and virtual support for up to 150 middle leaders.

About the Role
- The position is full time and requires working in our Kuala Lumpur office at least three days per week. As a Junior Associate, you will be a part of the Leadership, Enrichment and Development (LEAD) team which manages the LEAD programme from the planning stage to the programme implementation and post-programme studies and analysis. The Junior Associate reports to the Manager(s) from the LEAD team and the Organisation Leads.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Operations and Programme Coordination:
Work with Programme Team(s), Programme Manager(s) and Organisation Leads to:
- Work closely with a diverse team, fostering a collaborative, innovative and efficient work environment.
- Implement steps in programme strategic plans to ensure high-quality delivery of programmes in alignment with the organisation’s objectives.
- Coordinate and carry out programme operational activities, including but not limited to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and logistics, to ensure efficient execution of programmes activities, such as events, workshops, and meetings.
- Support programme’s budget management by executing effective and timely financial processes and documentation.
- Assist the implementation of all parts of the programme curriculum, such as material preparation, to ensure rigour and suitability for the beneficiaries of the programme.
- Communicate findings from Measurement, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) frameworks that measure programme effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
- Facilitate in-person and online workshops, Professional Learning Community (PLC) sessions and ongoing support for programme beneficiaries.
- Provide continuous support and communication to programme beneficiaries to ensure continuous participation and improvement in respective schools.
- Execute any assigned tasks by Programme Manager(s) and Organisation Leads.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Work with Programme Team(s), Programme Manager(s) and Organisation Leads to:
- Devise and prepare any necessary formal communication materials to engage, foster and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including but not limited to Ministry of Education officials, funders, social impact partners and schools.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to arrange school visits to understand needs and context.
- Support stakeholder engagement sessions by preparing materials such as reports and slides related to programme progress and impact.
- Attend sessions and exchange information with Global School Leaders (GSL) Partners and cascade learnings back to team members.
- Execute any assigned tasks by Programme Manager(s) and Organisation Leads.
Marketing and Communications:
Work with Programme Team(s), Programme Manager(s) and Organisation Leads to:
- Co-develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy to enhance the organisation’s and programme’s visibility and engagement with stakeholders.
- Showcase programme’s progress and impact by creating, editing and posting regular communication materials and social media content using various types of media to ensure high engagement.
- Manage the organisation’s online presence, including updates on the organisation’s website and social media channels, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and other documentation to support internal and external communications.
- Execute any assigned tasks by Programme Manager(s) and Organisation Leads.
Requirements
Required Competencies
- Passion about PEMIMPIN GSL’s mission and the movement, with a desire to operate within our vision and values by working with high need schools across Malaysia.
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, to professionally liaise in Bahasa Melayu and English.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal ability to coordinate with diverse stakeholders effectively to adapt to different audiences.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment to manage multiple tasks and is adaptable to working efficiently in a fast-paced, and deadline-driven environment.
- A creative mindset with strong visualisation skills to design and communicate information in an engaging and impactful manner.
- Ability to adapt content creatively for different media formats and platforms using technology and tools for program management, communication or content creation, such as Google Workspace, Canva and CapCut.
- A proactive attitude with a strong willingness to learn and apply critical thinking to propose strategies and solutions that enhance outcomes of educational initiatives.
Who should consider this role
- A Bachelor’s degree in any field. Open to fresh graduates or candidates with less than 2 years of working experience.
- Proven experience in organising events, programmes or activities, including from co-curricular, volunteer or student-led initiatives.
- Prior experience as an educator, tutor, mentor or facilitator is highly desirable.
Experience in multimedia content creation and media management is highly desirable. - Experience in non-profit organisations or social sectors is an added advantage.
