The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflicts and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. It directs and coordinates the international relief activities conducted by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in situations of conflict. It also endeavours to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles.
The Humanitarian Affairs & Networking Adviser provides supports to the delegation in understanding the context and influencing the wider political, humanitarian and religious environment in the given context. S/He helps it shape its engagement with actors of influence, including both multilateral and regional fora as well as UN-led fora in-country. S/he also engages with influential religious and civil society networks in Malaysia and contributes to representing the ICRC externally with these audiences and building the necessary understanding and acceptance of and support for the ICRC among key stakeholders.
