The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is a not-for-profit, international membership organisation that is working to transform markets to make sustainable palm oil the norm. To do this, we have united stakeholders from all sectors of the palm oil supply chain and civil society to develop and implement global standards for sustainable palm oil production and procurement.
Since its inception in 2004, RSPO has enjoyed rapid growth and today has 5,000 members from 101 countries, including oil palm producers, processors, traders, consumer goods manufacturers, retailers, banks, and non-governmental organisations. Thanks to the commitments and actions of these members, nearly 20% of the global supply of palm oil has already been certified as sustainable.
At RSPO, we believe that a not-for-profit organisation is made successful by the passion, skills, and expertise of its members and staff. They are the ones who drive our organisation to new heights and guide us through the next phase of our development.
The Executive, Climate Change (GHG/Peat) will be part of the Standards Development Division (SDD) and will be responsible for assisting the Manager, Climate Change (GHG/Peat) in overseeing the development and implementation of the standards, guidance and procedures related to the above criterion.
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include but will not be limited to the following:
To assist the Manager in managing and maintaining the PalmGHG calculator software and provide technical support to the Assurance Division in processing the submission of PalmGHG reports.
To provide support to stakeholders on the PalmGHG methodology and related queries.
To assist the Manager in processing the RSPO Peat Inventory and Drainability Assessment and review submissions by working closely with relevant internal units.
To compile the data on GHG emissions from PalmGHG and New Planting Procedure (NPP) submissions.
To assist the Manager in developing standards and procedures relating to GHG/Peat within the RSPO Principles & Criteria (P&C) requirements and associated processes.
To take charge in developing/updating relevant GHG and Peat training materials and its translations in line with the Standards Development Division internal Standard Operating
To assist the Manager in providing capacity building activities within the RSPO Secretariat in the area of GHG and Peat.
To provide support to the Manager with task force/working group (e.g., Peatland Working Group 2, GHG Task Force) related activities.
Apart from the duties stated above, to perform any duty or duties reasonably assigned by the CC Head of Unit, CC Manager and / or Director, SDD
University degree in Environmental/Sustainable Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
A minimum of two years of work experience in sustainability standards, preferably within the Palm Oil Sector. Familiarity with the RSPO P&C 2018 standards and its related procedures would be advantageous.
