In this pivotal role, the Community Learning and Events Senior Associate serves as the torchbearer for community engagement and learning within Teach For Malaysia. As a catalyst for change, the individual will harness the power of educational events and initiatives to create impactful connections, foster inclusivity, and drive forward the message of Teach For Malaysia.
The Senior Associate will comprehensively oversee the planning, organisation, and
execution of community-based learning events and workshops. They will be the linchpin, ensuring alignment between Teach For Malaysia's strategic objectives and community learning outcomes.
Beyond organising, the individual will actively engage with the heart of the community, gleaning insights to shape future initiatives and ensuring our events resonate deeply and meaningfully.
This role requires not only a logistical mind but also a passionate heart as the Senior Associate champions our mission, bringing our vision to life through vibrant community events and interactive learning experiences.
● Plan, organise, and execute community-based learning events, conferences, workshops, and other special events that promote education and community involvement.
● Collaborate with different stakeholders such as educators, students, parents, and other community members to identify learning needs and interests.
● Develop and implement effective strategies to encourage community participation and
engagement in learning and development programs.
● Act as the primary point of contact for vendors, partners, and community members
regarding event details, logistics, and other matters.
● Collaborate with the marketing team to promote events and engagements and ensure
effective communication about events and engagements to all stakeholders.
● Measure the success of each event and engagement and provide reports on relevant
indicators.
● Stay updated with the latest trends in community engagement and learning and propose
innovative ideas for effective community events and engagements.
● Coordinate with the wider Teach For Malaysia team to ensure alignment of community
engagements with our organisation's strategic goals and vision.
● Facilitate workshops and other training activities as required by other programme teams.
● Any other responsibilities assigned as required to support the needs of the organisation where appropriate.

● Strong understanding of community dynamics and ability to engage diverse groups of
people.
● Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
● Proficiency in project management and ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
● Good understanding of event management software and platforms.
● Strong leadership skills, with an ability to inspire and motivate a team.
● Proficient in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
● Video editing skills and social media management skills are a plus point.
● Strong programme development skills are a plus point.
Years of experience & qualification
● At least 3 years experience in organising and facilitating community events or related activities.
● Bachelor's degree in communication, social work, education or a related field.

● Willing and able to readily adopt and utilise any TFM database or technological platform/application (i.e. Google Suites, Confluence, Salesforce, Zoom etc.)
