    Description

    Founded in 2025, SPROUT (Supporting Progress, Rights, Outreach, and Understanding on Reproductive Health) is a network dedicated to empowering low-income women by providing them with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their reproductive health.

    SPROUT is seeking a Community Engagement Officer to help strengthen our ties with local communities, ensure our programs meet the needs of women, and foster ongoing participation and support for our initiatives.

    Commitment: 1 year (Part-time, flexible hours)

    Compensation: This is a paid position with compensation determined on a project basis and contingent upon available funding.

    Tentative Start Date: 1st March 2025

    Responsibilities
    • Build and nurture relationships with local communities, including women’s groups, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Engage with the target audience (low-income women) to understand their needs and challenges, ensuring SPROUT’s programs are relevant and impactful.
    • Coordinate outreach activities and events to raise awareness about SPROUT’s programs, particularly SPROUT Academy.
    • Act as a liaison between SPROUT and community members, ensuring transparent communication and effective feedback loops.
    • Mobilize and encourage community participation in workshops, training sessions, and other SPROUT initiatives.
    • Collect feedback from program participants to improve program delivery and community outreach.
    • Organize community meetings, focus groups, and events to foster engagement and gather insights.
    • Support the Program Officer in implementing strategies to increase program visibility and participation.
    • Provide recommendations to ensure that SPROUT’s programs are culturally sensitive and accessible to diverse communities.
    • Work with other team members to promote a sense of ownership and empowerment within the community.
    Requirements
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse groups of people.
    • Experience in community outreach, advocacy, or related fields.
    • Knowledge of the needs and challenges faced by low-income communities and women’s rights issues.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with team members.
    • A passion for community empowerment and women’s rights initiatives.
    • Previous experience in community engagement or non-profit work is required.
