ERM is looking to grow its Infrastructure M&A and Sustainable Finance team through the recruitment of an established leader to join us as a Principal Consultant.
You will be working alongside Partners across the M&A, Low Carbon Economy and Corporate Sustainability teams in building ERM’s position as a leading Transaction and Sustainability Advisor for Infrastructure Investors. You will have significant experience of the Energy Sector with proven experience leading due diligence assignments that capture understanding of technical, commercial, ESG, economic and regulatory drivers of deals.
Building long term client relationships – You are expected to engage closely with infrastructure investor clients (and portfolio companies) to understand their needs and share insights/ thought leadership from across ERM. You will play a key role in identifying, originating and securing due diligence opportunities in the Infrastructure sector. You will work closely with other Partners to originate, develop and secure advisory opportunities to support such clients as they seek to shape their net zero transition. The expectations will be to support the growth of specific list of Infrastructure Investor Clients to convert them into the Key Client group for ERM Group
Shaping and leading advisory assignments – You will be central to shaping the future direction of sustainability and due diligence services to infrastructure investors. Through your close interaction with infrastructure investors, you will develop and execute novel ways in which we innovate and tailor advice to meet the changing needs of infrastructure investors. You will be expected to draw upon the broad experience of the ERM organisation globally to provide the highest quality of advice to clients. You will take senior-level accountability for the development and management of scope and budget for project assignments.
Inspiring leadership – You will play a key role in shaping the current and future direction of the team through inspiring leadership, mentoring and collaboration. You will take responsibility for guiding and coaching junior team members as well as work closely in the identification of skills gaps to be fulfilled through future team development.
You will be an experienced leader with deep infrastructure investor client relationships and significant experience undertaking sustainable finance advice and due diligence services.
Ideally you will have 10 - 15 years of consulting and/or industry background during your career life. You will have a high business development acumen, strong governance and integrity. You will be able to have strategic discussions with business leaders and a proven track record of helping clients realise their ambitious low carbon goals through the implementation of low carbon economy transition infrastructure. An innovative and creative mindset capable of influencing and delivering change is very much desirable.
Proven Business Development acumen with leading organisations in the built environment, infrastructure and energy sectors
Demonstrable passion for energy transition and understanding of the relative carbon impact of different technologies
Track record of technical, commercial and regulatory deal advice across the Energy sector
Experience overseeing the delivery of ESG due diligence assignments
Experience in climate-related financial risk analysis such as the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
Broad understanding of global energy (and energy-intensive) market and macroeconomic outlooks
Deep understanding of existing and emerging in-country regulations, standards and strategies applicable to energy transition
Additional language skills valuable.
