Juvita Tatan Wan hails from Long San, Baram, in Sarawak, Malaysia’s Borneo, and belongs to the Dayak-Kenyah community. She holds the role of co-founder and creative producer at The Tuyang Initiative, a community-driven creative arts management company and accredited social enterprise based in Miri. Tuyang is dedicated to empowering Dayak (indigenous people of Borneo) cultural custodians and practitioners by facilitating their participation in the Creative and Cultural industry through strategic partnerships and on-the-job experiences. The organization firmly believes that this industry provides a means for indigenous communities to attain meaningful livelihoods while actively preserving their cultural heritage.
Before joining Tuyang, Juvita spent over 10 years working in the corporate sector in Kuala Lumpur. Her extensive experience in business development, audiovisual production, and product marketing with organizations like Universal Music, M&C Saatchi, and Maxis laid the foundation necessary to launch Tuyang and lead a team with a focus on local thinking and global action.
Together with fellow creatives, Juvita also initiated MYY Living Arts, an artist-led public arts platform in Miri, a primarily oil & gas city – with the purpose of enabling the showcasing of creative talents locally and facilitating their growth and international industry connection.
